Final Project Meeting in Tunis

After we handed in our book manuscript in late June, our research group ‘Tunisia in Transition – International Relations’ met for a last project meeting in Tunis from 23 to 25 September 2016. The programme comprised a visit to and discussion at the Truth and Dignity Commission as well as a roundtable on Europe’s way of dealing with political Islam and extremism in the region hosted by the Institut de Recherche sur le Maghreb Contemporain (IRMC). Valuable input to this roundtable discussion was provided by Youssef Cherif, Tunisian Institute For Strategic Studies (ITES), Asiem El Difraoui, Senior Fellow of the Institute for Media and Communication Policy as well as Oliver Hahn, Professor of Journalism at the University of Passau. The roundtable was moderated by Mohamed Nidhal Zaier, fellow of ‘Tunisia in Transition – International Relations’. On this occasion, most of the project fellows further gathered one last time in order to discuss possible formats of cooperation in the future.

We would like to thank all participants and fellows for their input and commitment as well as the Truth and Dignity Commission for their availability and especially the IRMC for kindly hosting us – it was a real pleasure to work with you all!
